Job Description
We are excited to welcome an enthusiastic Transport Manager to our team. This role is pivotal in ensuring our transport operations run smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee Transport Activities: Resource, organise, and supervise transport operations.
- Direct Management: Lead a team of around 25 driver/loading staff.
- Operational Management: Handle day-to-day operations across multiple transport areas in the Midlands & South West, including driver route allocation and ensuring all operational and legal compliance.
- Support Senior Operations Manager: Assist with local and group objectives.
- Record Keeping: Maintain driver induction records, CPC records, licence checks, and training.
- Customer Relations: Manage key contacts within our customer base.
- KPI Production: Produce and present KPIs for the business area, setting and measuring financial and operational KPIs.
- Performance Improvement: Identify areas for improvement and implement strategies.
- Health & Safety: Monitor and audit health and safety compliance, creating and implementing risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Team Meetings: Regularly meet with Transport Supervisors to ensure efficiency.
- Statistics Production: Produce statistics for customer meetings.
- Staff Development: Conduct regular 1-2-1s and annual PDR interviews with direct reports.
- Fleet Management: Ensure fleet safety and reliability, collaborating with maintenance providers.
- Driver Training: Provide additional training on vehicle checks, company processes, and CPC updates.
- Debriefs & Gate Checks: Conduct meaningful driver debriefs and gate checks to ensure accountability and legal adherence.
Required Experience:
- Qualifications: Must hold international or national CPC qualification and have previous Transport Management experience.
- Legal Compliance: Strong understanding of legal compliance, driver's hours, and WTDs.
- Change Management: Proven track record of leading successful change.
- Customer Relationship Management: Experience in managing customer relationships.
- Financial Management: Experience in managing financial budgets and annual P&L responsibility.
- Management Skills: Strong evidence of management skills and making key business decisions.
- Team Motivation: Ability to advise and motivate the team to deliver results.
- Presentation Skills: Ability to present to senior key contacts and external customers
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
- IT Skills: Proficient in MS Office with strong analytical abilities for reviewing data and reports.
