Applications are invited to apply for the above post in the Maternity Department at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The department is seeking a capable and motivated doctor who enjoys working in both a District General and tertiary referral service and wishes to effect change and improve care for patients within this service.

The successful candidate will join the maternity service which provides general obstetric services to the local population – women per year are cared for within the Trust. There are also tertiary referral services in fetal and maternal medicine, supported by a Level neonatal unit.

We anticipate that the successful candidate will have in Fetomaternal Medicine and will continue to maintain this expertise after appointment.

This post is intended to be mainly based at the Horton Hospital in Banbury but there is also a Delivery suite/Caesarean Section session at the John Radcliffe Hospital, in Oxford. In order to maintain appropriate competency, there will also be a necessity to rotate through ANC sessions at the John Radcliffe approximately in . The provision of high-risk clinics at the Horton are required in alignment with the OUH strategy of care closer to home. On call will be Maternity only at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder’s duties will be split between the Horton General, Banbury and the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.

Clinical

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust provides services across four sites (John Radcliffe Hospital Oxford, Horton Hospital Banbury, Nuffield Orthopaedic Hospital and the Churchill Hospital, Oxford). Obstetric inpatient and outpatient services are based at the John Radcliffe Hospital. In addition, outpatient obstetric clinics are undertaken at the Horton Hospital in Banbury. The successful applicant may be required to work across both sites. The post holder will be expected to undertake high risk antenatal clinics at the Horton Hospital.

The post-holder will be expected to undertake sessions providing acute general intrapartum care and obstetric care supported by at least other obstetricians in training as part of this post.

The post holder will undertake obstetric on-call duties of no more frequent than :, currently : with internal cover (equivalent to in the worked year). The out of hours on call attracts a supplement paid at Band A.
