Job Summary

The Cellular and Molecular Therapies function within NHSBT supports approximately 50% of bone marrow transplants across the country and is also involved in developing new cell and gene-based therapies through clinical trials. This post will offer the right candidate an opportunity to be part of the team managing this fast moving area of science and technology within NHSBT.

The postholder will have the opportunity to communicate with a wide range of clinical, scientific and administrative people both internal and external to the organisation.

You’ll be able to use your knowledge and experience to make a real difference to how well NHSBT delivers on its strategy to be at the forefront of bringing new cellular and molecular therapies to NHS patients.

Main duties of the job

This job role recognises the challenge of effectively and efficiently managing national functions across geographically-dispersed sites. In this role you will be required to:

  • Provide administrative capacity nationally across the Function including managing regular meetings, co-ordinating travel, conference registration, courier and catering arrangements, monitoring the Function’s inbox, ad-hoc invoicing, website management and supporting Advanced Cell Therapy and Clinical Biotechnology business development work streams..
  • Provide bespoke analytical support for the Function, including, for example, the creation of performance metrics, competitor and market trend analyses, desk-top research reports and horizon scanning.
  • Support and co-ordinate business initiatives using project management tools
  • Develop and maintain specialist expertise and knowledge in order to support activity across the Function. This might include, for example, regulatory compliance, the advancement of operational improvements or coordination of procurement exercises

You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, with prior notice

About You

Experience and Knowledge

  • Experience in producing meeting agenda, taking minutes, running bring forward systems and chasing progress on actions
  • Experience of working in an administrative role handling conflicting deadlines and priorities
  • Extensive experience of working with information technology using Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), or equivalent Systems
  • Experience of using IT systems to produce reports (eg visio, publisher) and correspondence which are timely, professional and accurate
  • Knowledge of General Data Protection Regulations, Freedom of Information and Information Governance
  • Knowledge of producing and presenting a wide range of management information


Qualifications and Training

  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject (e.g. business administration, management)
  • Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD)
