Location: North Curry, Somerset
Salary: £13.50 per hour (paid weekly)
Working Hours: Tuesday – Saturday, 9:00am – 5:00pm (30-minute break)
Duration: Temporary to Permanent
Start Date: Immediate
We are currently recruiting for a Yard Operative with a valid Forklift Licence to join a busy food production business based near North Curry. This is a hands-on role working across yard, chilled, and frozen environments with both raw and cooked chicken.
The Job:
• Ensure product quality and integrity is maintained across all yard operations.
• Unload deliveries into site and load collections efficiently and safely.
• Maintain FIFO procedures and temperature control of all incoming goods.
• Decant products from freezer for tempering and gather ingredients/sundries for internal departments.
• Complete and maintain accurate paperwork and conduct regular equipment checks.
• Pack finished goods into customer-specific configurations.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe yard, container, and storage area.
• Adhere to all health & safety, food safety, and company protocols.
The Requirements:
• Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence is essential.
• Previous experience in a food manufacturing or similar environment is preferred.
• Comfortable working in cold environments (fridge and freezer).
• Strong understanding of FIFO, CCPs, and general warehouse practices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good attention to detail, organisation, and communication skills.
