Position

An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Deputy Charge Nurse to join the senior inpatient nursing team within Ward 4, Woodland View on an acting capacity for a period up to 6 months (minimum of 3).

What you will do:

Ward 4 is a 15 bedded acute functional assessment ward for people over the age of 65 years who require inpatient assessment and treatment for acute mental illness.

The opportunity is available to individuals with experience of working with older adults experiencing mental illness. The role includes clinical, professional and managerial responsibility for Ward 4 on a 24-hour basis including all clinical and staff governance issues. You are responsible for maximising service provision, including the delivery of safe and effective clinical practice, ensuring that all local and national guidelines and targets are adhered to and met.

You will be responsible for delivering person centred care, evidenced based, recovery focused interventions and will also promote collaborative working within a multi- disciplinary team and across multi agency services.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

The band 6 role is essential to the smooth running of the ward and to assist in leading and monitoring the work and performance of the nursing team, including newly qualified RMNs. Applicants should be able to evidence strong leadership qualities and be a role model to staff. Supervision of staff on a day to day basis is a key aspect of the role and the ability to balance clinical and managerial responsibilities is essential.

You will work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and, as such, should have excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills along with a positive attitude, calm demeanour and a proven ability to work as part of a team.

You should be willing to undertake training to develop skills and competencies as required.

Hours: full time post- 75 hours a fortnight
