Role The Platform Operations Engineer will provide proactive management and reactive support of secure environments hosted on VMware ESXi, running a mix Windows and Linux VMs ; Administration, vulnerability management, and regular maintenance of a full stack environment; You will be responsible for service management activities such as incident resolution, change implementation work providing new functionality to the environment and maintenance activities. Your Key Responsibilities Implementing and maintaining complex, secure VMware virtualisation solutions hosting Linux and Windows server domain environments Proactive maintenance, identifying and implementing improvements to operational and reference platform environments while confirm security compliance Providing operational support, such as incident resolution, change implementation and maintenance activities to ensure a stable and reliable environment Proactive monitoring of system availability and performance to stay ahead of potential issues Producing and maintaining clear and concise documentation The key requirements for the role are: Experience with VMWare vSphere suite Linux and/or Windows Server system administration Skills in scripting, such as with Python, BASH, Powershell Managing secure or segregated, regulated platforms and systems Ability to take responsibility for solving complex issues and being technical escalation for junior engineers Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organisation. Additional desirable skills or experience with any of the following would be an advantage: Working with Developers and Agile software development teams using Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI / CD) practices and tools, such as GitLab, Jira, and Jenkins. Exposure to IaC technologies such as Ansible and Terraform System architecture and design, and continuous improvement in areas such as automation DevSecOps practices, cyber security awareness and working as part of a wider technical team to define, implement and enforce an effective control set Amazon Web Services including the provisioning and management of Infrastructure-as-a-Service and Software-as-a-Service resources Monitoring and audit tools such as Elastic, LANsweeper or similar Built on over a 60 year heritage, Roke offers specialist knowledge in sensors, communications, cyber, and AI and ML. This is no corporate concrete jungle; this is a manor house site, with ample parking an on-site gym and a driveway full of daffodils in the spring. Predominantly working on site with flexibility for hybrid working where client delivery and project needs permit.
