The Post:
As a major division within the NHS National Services Scotland, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale – through our leading position in new product development, biomedical research and donor services. Our goal is to maintain the highest standards to patient care whilst remaining internationally competitive. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team in Raigmore.
The primary purpose of the post is to provide the Scottish National Blood Transfusion service (SNBTS) stores with storekeeping duties for all items of stock and non-stock as part of the SNBTS operations. There will be a requirement to provide driver cover to ensure blood & blood components are delivered and uplifted to / from various locations in the North of Scotland. The current job description is under review but the key result areas remain the same.
The post holder will work with various departments within SNBTS (Donor and Transport Services, Patient Services & Quality) and NSS (Procurement). Responsible for the day to day running of the Inverness stores and consumables, including but not exclusively; reconciliation of stock requests, deliveries, receipt and distribution, record keeping, stock management, Participate in stock checks and provide support of donor session supplies. Good organisational skills, ability to work independently and attention to detail are required for all aspects of the job.
The Candidate:
Applications are invited from enthusiastic, motivated, flexible individuals keen to undertake this challenging and interesting post. Candidates must demonstrate equivalent experience. We are seeking an individual with a customer focused approach, who are organised and adaptable. You must also possess excellent communication skills, have the ability to multitask and be able to work under pressure. A good to high working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages and good key board skills are essential.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who have lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
Location and Working Pattern:
The post will be based at the Inverness and North Scotland Blood Donor Centre, Raigmore Hospital, Inverness, IV2 3UJ
Monday – Friday, 20 hours per week, flexible start/finish times between 8.00am and 2.00pm.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
