Job Description Job Title: Graduate Project Engineer Business Unit: Engineering and Innovation Issue Date: February 2024 Purpose: The Graduate Project Engineer is responsible for actively participating in engineering and project management tasks related to the preparation and delivery of submarine cable installation projects. This role involves assisting in the preparation of technical work scopes as defined by the company processes and may include supporting studies, tenders, as well as live projects. This is a development position offering a combination of both on-the-job and off-the-job training, and representation of the project team both onshore and offshore, nationally and internationally. A structured in-house training and development program will be provided to develop and foster specialist knowledge and facilitation of personal career development. Key Deliverables: Conduct all activities in accordance with company QHSE requirements, including engagement and actively participating in safety initiatives. Collaborate in the development of technical cable installation procedures, involving tasks such as engineering support to senior engineers, design calculations, scope of work writing, procedure development, deck layouts & storyboards, analysis & progress reports, subcontractor tender evaluations. Assist in the provision of cost estimates for mobilisation and installation activities. Engage in development engineering FEED studies to address engineering challenges. Manage and deliver discrete engineering work scopes, taking on increasing responsibility as more experience is gained. Assist the project team in monitoring and controlling budgets and schedules to ensure safe and timely project completion. Liaise with other internal departments to ensure timely completion and delivery of required works, equipment, and associated documentation. Develop and document knowledge of technical content related to submarine cable installation and repair including good engineering practices, recognised industry standards and legislative requirements. Proactive engagement with continuous improvement initiatives, lessons learnt etc. Undertake visits to vessels to broaden knowledge of submarine cable installation and repair. Qualifications, Skills and Experience Qualifications/Skills/Experience: Required: Suitable Bachelors degree in relevant Engineering degree (Offshore Engineering, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineer etc.) Well versed in the application of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, MathCAD and AutoCad or similar Strong technical report writing skills Willingness to learn and develop new skills within the offshore industry Demonstrable eye for detail and a logical approach Commitment to safety by design Ideal: Marine experience Knowledge of the marine/offshore environment Driver s license We operate a hybrid working arrangement.
