Position: Multi Skilled Driver Location UK Mobile Reports to: Delivery Manager Purpose of the Role The successful and safe delivery of the programmed work / transit shift of Rail Grinders, Rail Milling and Tampers. Being competent to drive both types of C21 & C44 Rail Grinders and Rail Milling Machine. In addition, you would also be trained to drive other types of OTM plant. Key Role Accountabilities Driving and route conducting the machines safely and effectively Reporting any machine defects to Grinding Supervisor and/or Maintenance Supervisor, where appropriate. To work safely and effectively to Colas Rail Services Operations procedures. Assist as required Assist in maintaining quality systems, and stabling database by continually monitoring, reviewing, and making recommendations for updating as required Required undertake route learning / refreshing as and when required. Must maintain and work towards expanding route knowledge base. Will be required to drive all other OTM s such as Rail Milling Machine and Tampers Required to keep all routes current via the Colas Rail route app SHEQ Responsibilities Work to applicable Safety Plans and Method Statements. Comply with Section 7 of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 Close Calls and safety conversations submitted as per procedure Competencies Required To be able to drive all types Rail Grinders and other OTM plant when required to do so Driving Licence PTS Fire Training Emergency First Aid Driver Mentor Trainer / Assessor Qualification PPE Requirement Hard hat Bump cap Eye Protection Safety Footwear Torch Ear Defenders High Visibility Overalls High Visibility Tabard High Visibility T-Shirt High Visibility Coat High Visibility Trousers Respiratory Protection Equipment Dusk mask Interfaces InternalInterfaces with Rail Grinding Management, Rail Planning Team, Grinding and Maintenance Supervisors regarding any machine problems and changes to schedules.
