Main duties of the job To provide a day to day operational management of the service delivery To practice as a qualified Senior Specialist and provide a high quality service at all times To support the provision of the specialised decontamination service contributing to the clinical care of the patient To apply professional judgement and utilise specialist skills and detailed scientific knowledge when reviewing and interpreting scientific data and production reports to ensure a safe service is provided To work independently in all areas of the specialty and be able to work as an autonomous practitioner To deputise for the Sterile Services Manager when necessary To work unsupervised, plan own work load and work with minimal managerial direction To work within the constraints of the budget allocation To work as part of a team of decontamination personnel To manage and train a team of staff as necessary Ensure a customer and patient safety focus is maintained at all times Working for our organisation About Harrogate Integrated Facilities Harrogate Integrated Facilities (HIF) was formed in 2018 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Harrogate and District Foundation NHS Trust (HDFT). We supply a wide range of essential services to HDFT hospitals and community sites, including; cleaning, catering, portering, courier and transport, hotel services, estates maintenance, sterile services, equipment library, security, car parking, general office and administration, energy, waste and environmental impact reduction. One of our 400 + dedicated HIF colleagues, is often the first person a patient or visitor meets when they come to Harrogate District Hospital and can make a real positive difference to them. Detailed job description and main responsibilities Person specification Skills Essential criteria Holds a postgraduate Degree or is able to demonstrate an equivalent level of management experience Experience of investigating incidents Knowledge and experience of working with service level agreements/contracts Experience of Human Resource management Ability to recognise and monitor parameters of quality, accuracy and imprecision according to quality procedures and legislative requirements To be skilled in the creation of reports and policies Chartered Membership of the IDSC or to be in place within 6 months of start date Desirable criteria Highly specialised decontamination knowledge acquired through ongoing specialist training or experience Experience of working with ISO standards and their implementation Decontamination experience Introduction to ISO 13485 We will continue to deliver a high quality service for Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust, providing a high quality, patient-focused service.
