About the role…

Our L&D team has an opportunity available for a L&D Manager based in Durham and Scarborough.

This role will be office based in our Durham office and will occasionally involve store visits in Durham and Scarborough.

We will consider 1 day hybrid.

What will my role look like?

Working closely with the operational teams, you will champion training and development within Cooplands, by identifying, designing and facilitating appropriate development solutions. Your role is to be proactive to help the business to create a learning culture and approach which will support our strategy. You will lead the Retail L&D Team, develop meaningful relationships with colleagues and influence activity by using data, reports and evidence. 

Role Duties:

  • Building relationships with Retail teams, identifying where focus is needed, anticipating and pre-empting needs, leading and coordinating training and development activities
  • Developing and implementing tools for the Retail Development Programme, including induction, skills development and succession pathways for progression
  • Developing and maintaining a process to ensure essential training, including Health & Safety, Food Safety and Allergy Awareness, is completed
  • Updating and maintaining training records for all colleagues, providing regular MI, reports to key stakeholders about completion rates, risks and activity to ensure compliance levels are maintained
  • Supporting the Personal Development Review (PDR) process, to ensure meaningful conversations, SMART development plans and learning needs analysis is completed, with interventions to address key needs and themes
  • Working collaboratively with Line Managers to retain talent by developing a pipeline for internal progression
  • Pro-active in supporting team development for new store openings and re-fits
  • Providing onsite support and coaching to improve capability, championing training and development throughout Cooplands
  • Participating in relevant projects, leading and championing as appropriate
  • Keeping up to date with external trends and L&D best practice
  •  Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years L&D experience
  • Experience of operating in a multi-site business
  • Passionate and motivated to develop people skills
  • Ability to adapt communication and training styles to include remote, virtual, 1:1 and team learning
  • IT literate – excel, PPT, word, SAP Success Factors, e-learning
  • Driver’s licence
  • Flexibility with working hours and willing to travel to different locations
