We currently have an exciting opportunity for Assessment & Approvals Specialist role at our Perth Head Office, on a 0.6 FTE (3 day a week) part time, 12 month maximum term contract (with the possibility of a further extension).


About this role

As the Assessment & Approvals Specialist, you will be required to support the business to identify safety, environment, quality and training (SEQT) constraints and requirements when planning and prioritising the development, maintenance and inspection of the network and the associated asset strategies. You will also be required to:

  • Identify key environmental, planning and/or heritage constraints and approvals to facilitate project design, scoping and successful delivery and assist Western Power in delivering outcomes by providing timely and relevant environmental advice (including technical/operational, approvals, strategy and risk).
  • Supporting the business to identify, manage and acquit SEQT requirements (including but not limited to environmental, health/pollution, heritage, land access, urban and regional planning and public safety requirements during the planning, development and prioritisation of the work program and associated projects in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to an inclusive, effective and safe working environment by taking responsibility for decisions and behaviours, and the consequences of these. In building relationships with immediate team members, business partners and external parties the incumbent is expected to drive commitment to, and model behaviours consistent with the company’s purpose, values and objectives.

  • About you

    We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in safety, Environmental Science, urban and regional planning, law or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in environmental, environmental, heritage and statutory planning approvals.
  • Demonstrated ability assessing and mitigating risks in design and asset management related activities.
  • Strong communication and written skills.
  • Proven ability to influence key internal and external stakeholders
  • Self-motivated and determined work ethic
  • Valid WA Driver’s License Class ‘C’ or ‘C-A’.
