What you will enjoy doing

  • This is an exciting opportunity to be responsible for the successful delivery of the day-to-day transport operations at one of our main sites
  • You will manage and engage a team of drivers across a geographical area, ensuring the highest level of transport operation, ensuring all targets and customer requirements are met efficiently and cost-effectively
  • As a safety-first organisation, this role will lead the way by managing and ensuring compliance with our safety processes, standards, and ways of working applying appropriate consequence management when necessary
  • You will be accountable for the legal and compliance of both people and vehicle, meeting license requirements, vehicle maintenance and driver controls to meet the statutory requirements
  • Furthermore, you will be responsible for the management of the branches transport costs, acting where costs are higher than required and developing plans to reduce or increase efficiency
  • And lastly, you will be responsible for achieving the branch safety targets, ensuring continuous improvements are made and ensuring that drivers are trained and competent to undertake the role in the safest way possible
  • What makes you great

  • You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach at all levels
  • Good people management skills with the ability to inspire, develop and influence others
  • You have a good level of numerical and computer literacy skills
  • In addition, you have a Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
  • You have experience of working and managing within a trade union environment
  • And lastly, if you have an ADR license or health, safety,and environmental qualification such as a NEBOSH this would be an advantage, butwe can also provide the right person with this training
