Role Overview

Turner & Townsend is seeking a Site Technician to join our team in Scotland delivering the Performance Audit Group Contract. As a Site Technician, you will play a vital role in maintaining the quality and safety of Scotland’s Trunk Road Network. This dynamic position involves conducting inspections, audits, and monitoring Supplier activities to ensure compliance with contractual and industry standards. Balancing on-site and office-based responsibilities, you will verify that maintenance and construction activities meet the highest standards, directly contributing to the reliability and efficiency of Scotland’s Road infrastructure.

Performance Audit Group

The Performance Audit Group (PAG) Contract, initiated by Transport Scotland, ensures the Scottish Trunk Road Network is managed and maintained to the highest standards. PAG provides independent oversight of contracts, including Design-Build-Finance-Operate (DBFO) agreements, to guarantee value for money and adherence to technical and commercial requirements. By driving improvements across the network, the PAG plays a pivotal role in supporting Scotland’s connectivity and economic growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections, audits, and monitoring activities related to road network asset inventory and updates.
  • Assess the effectiveness and contractual compliance of Suppliers' inspection regimes as outlined in Employer contracts.
  • Issue notices based on observations from site inspections, in line with Supplier contract requirements.
  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of Supplier records and confirm that all work complies with Specifications and contractual documentation.
  • Validate that the quantities and values claimed by Suppliers are accurate and reflect completed work.
  • Contribute to reports required by the Employer, providing comprehensive insights and findings.
  • Maintain full familiarity with relevant sections of Supplier contracts to ensure thorough understanding and application.
  • Qualifications

    Role Requirements

    Essential :

  • Technician with HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent, or a Graduate with moderate experience.
  • Alternatively, an individual with comprehensive, relevant experience in road network maintenance and inspection.
  • Specified experience in inspecting, monitoring, and reporting on Supplier compliance with contracts, specifications, and best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance and construction works related to the management and maintenance of a road network.
  • Full UK Driver’s License
  • Desirable :

  • Familiarity with Transport Scotland standards and inspection practices.
  • Previous experience working on large-scale road network maintenance or construction projects.
  • Education and Experience

  • An HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification is preferred, though extensive relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Experience in site inspections and auditing of infrastructure projects.
  • Thorough understanding of road and structure maintenance operations.
