The Role
Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager the overall objective for the Operations Manager is to successfully manage Project teams and associated supply chain engagement, to deliver compliant project & planned works to the required quality standards, specification, budget and within the agreed timescale.
Additionally working to a wider remit to develop and grow our projects offering in the retrofit & projects market aligned to our business strategy for growth identifying pipeline opportunities via organic growth. Provide leadership and vision to promote the Fortem brand within our chosen marketplace.
The Project
• Promote and maintain the highest standards of health, safety and environmental management.
• Develop and monitor project strategies to achieve the company’s sustainability objectives.
• Establish quality standards on site and ensure quality of delivery in
• accordance with specifications, project requirements, timescale and to
• client & customer satisfaction.
• Identify and manage commercial risk.
• P&L responsibility.
• Liaise with the commercial team to provide estimates, information for tenders, pricing analysis, updated projections, and ongoing commercial project data.
• Develop excellent relationships with client representatives, consultants, and other stakeholders.
• Develop excellent relationships with the supply chain.
• Preparation, Monitoring, and interrogation of project programmes and instigate corrective actions as required to maintain programme deadlines.
• Recruit, train, develop, motivate retain high quality Fortem staff to deliver high levels of service delivery.
• Monitor performance and competency of team to manage and recognize achievements.
• Understand contract requirements, control cost and deliver projects in line with budget and project timescales provide support where required.
• Provide technical support and advice to the client and project team.
• Achieve the highest standards of customer care service and service delivery.
• Ensure a robust strategy is in place for dealing with complaints and managing defects. • Adopt the principles of the considerate constructor’s scheme and manage community relations. Ensure the appropriate site image is maintained.
• Produce and ensure accurate monthly financial and departmental reporting.
• Ensure KPIs as specified are met.
• Ensure the business is briefed on latest Government funding streams and opportunities.
Essential and Desirable Criteria
Essential:
• Extensive project management experience gained in a similar environment including directing resource and cost control.
• Experience of project managing multiple projects.
• Ability to read interpret and understand programmes, drawings, schedules and specifications.
• Experience of delivering capital works and larger scale projects, particularly through subcontract and supply chain arrangements.
• Proven ability to work to and develop operating procedures.
• IT literate, Microsoft project/ Ata Power project or equivalent skills.
• Strong written communication skills.
• Strong client liaison and communication skills.
• Excellent Leadership, management and team development skills with particular experience of leading a team of project managers and site teams .
• Strong understanding of construction operations and related sectors.
• Full understanding of Health & Safety legislation and statutory requirements .
• Financial and P&L analysis skills.
• SMSTS & knowledge of safe systems of work.
• Scaffold inspection
• Role Appropriate CSCS card
• First Aid at work certificate Valid driver’s license
Desirable:
• Minimum level 4 qualification (NVQ4 or HNC)
• Understanding of Contract Arrangements, Partnering, NEC option A & option C,
• Relevant degree ACIOB/MCIOB.
Other requirements:
• Travel and overnight stays maybe required.
