Job Description

Job purpose

Our strategy is to put the power of good advice into more hands. To deliver on this promise we are building a new wealth management service to help them plan and manage their financial future. This service will combine the best of great digital product design and wealth management expertise.

The Technical Lead will be accountable for directing technical aspects of software development, providing a strong technical direction for a team of software developers involved in this exciting development. You will be the main driver in deciding on technical solutions to meet stakeholder requirements, as well as overseeing code design and quality. Working in an agile framework, you will be required to collaborate with product managers, designers and key stakeholders to build market leading client experiences within the framework of the overall product.

For the right individual with a passion for technology, this role will provide direct experience of how technology can transform business operations and create innovative wealth management services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring good code design, quality, reliability and resiliency, and driving process improvements
  • Comfortable in scoping complex tasks and projects, providing mature, scalable technical designs to meet requirements
  • Collaborate with developers in solving technical solutions, as well as working with Technical Architects on the integration of products with other internal and external systems
  • Client focused on solutions that you are building, taking on board client experience to influence your future thinking
  • Willing to work collaboratively as well as independently 
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly explain solutions without technical jargon 
  • Have a drive for self-improvement and learning new technologies 
  • Approach solving problems pragmatically 
  • Experience collaborating with designers and user experience specialists to develop new products and experiences 
  • Experience working within an agile, iterative engineering environment 
  • Lead/mentor/coach developers in best practices
  • Help shape the Engineering Centre of Excellence
  • Qualifications

    Key Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in software development
  • Strong experience in Java, Spring Boot, and MapStruct 
  • Strong experience with Maven, JUnit, and Mockito 
  • Strong experience in JavaScript, Angular/React, ES6 & Typescript 
  • Strong experience with API development
  • Good understanding of UI/UX 
  • Strong experience with GIT
  • Good experience working with design patterns 
  • Experience with containerisation Docker, Kubernetes 
  • Experience working with cloud Azure
  • Excellent technical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills. 
  • Good understanding of Security principles and implementation
