All about the role

The Cost Optimisation Manager  will report to the Head of Delivery Operations and will be responsible for our strategy and initiatives to optimise logistics profitability in the UK.

This role will work closely with our Delivery Operations and Finance teams, as well as Scheduling, Forecasting, and Analytics. They will be responsible for shaping the way we monitor costs on a daily basis and implementing both short—and long-term tactical and strategic changes to manage our P&L. 

You will be someone who is very results driven and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, has strong data and analytical skills and demonstrates commercial awareness. You will also be a strong communicator with a proven track record of problem solving and senior stakeholder management. 

These are some of the key ingredients to the role:

  • Understand the key KPIs of our delivery network to identify and influence cost management whilst managing customer experience
  • Managing Cost Per Order  alongside the leadership of functional operational areas, driving stakeholder accountability to meet key financial and operational targets
  • Monitor and optimise courier pay working alongside our delivery operations team
  • Provide timely reporting and insightful analysis on key strategic initiatives when required
  • Proactively seek out new ways to drive further profitability through process improvement
  • Ad-hoc project management to help support business planning
  • Take a key role in understanding competitor benchmarking helping to identify gaps in our proposition and opportunities for first-mover advantage

 What will you bring to the table?

  • Strong sense of ownership and can dissect diverse problem statements into a set of action plans to drive the business forward. 
  • Experienced in using Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace experience.
  • Data analytics capabilities (especially Google Sheets / Tableau)
  • Ability to manage multiple work streams and prioritise where necessary by identifying what are the best trade-off scenarios between performance and cost
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with cross-functional teams
  • Experience with SQL and data analysis tools (Tableau, PowerBI) would be a great benefit for the role but not essential to apply.
