The role

The role of a Children’s Residential Support Workers will involve working within a Children’s residential setting with LAC children. These young people may have SEMH (Social Emotional and Mental Health Issues) along with other needs including but not limited to EBD, ASD, ADHD, PDA, attachment disorders and behaviours that challenge within the residential setting.

This role requires a committed, enthusiastic and resilient individual, with excellent communication skills as well as experience of report writing and record keeping, with emotional intelligence and the ability to react calmly in stressful situations.

The Setting

This setting caters for young people from the ages of 3 to 19 years of age within a residential setting in the Mansfield area. The setting caters for young people with a range of Special Education Needs and has recently been rated ‘excellent’ by an Ofsted report.

Requirements

To be considered for the Children’s Residential Support Workers position, you will:

  • Have a minimum of 3 months experience in one relevant setting i.e. school, youth centre, sports coaching, residential setting, respite centre.
  • Previous experience of working with behaviours that challenge is highly desirable.
  • An enhanced DBS registered to the update service or the willingness to apply for one.
  • The ability to work on initiative and proactively.
  • Able to work Monday – Friday.
  • The desire to work with young people with special educational needs.
  • A NVQ 3 in Health and Social Work would be desired but not essential.
  • Must have a car and driver’s licence
