Telecon is looking for an energetic and motivated individual to join our growing Civil Team! This is a field position/on the road.

Working under the supervision of the Line Foreman or Field Supervisor, the Lineman will assist the Expercom Civil Team with the installation of telecommunications infrastructure (buried cable, wire, or ducts) for various projects.

YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO :

  • Read and interpret blueprints or job specifications to execute all work assigned safely and in accordance to Telecon’s health and safety policy
  • Work outdoors in various conditions to place copper or fibre optic telecommunication cabels
  • Climb poles, ladders and a variety of construction equipment to assist in the installation of telecommunication cables and apparatus
  • String cables between structures, manholes, from poles, towers, or trenches and ensure that all are to proper tension.
  • Clean and maintain tools and equipment
  • Accurately record and report project progress to the appropriate supervisory person and communicate any issues or expected delays
  • Performs other duties as required
     

    • THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:

  • Minimum of 2 years previous experience in a similar role
  • High school diploma
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license with clean driving record – a driver’s license with a Z endorsement will be required to operate expercom line vehicles and operate a rubber tracked excavator
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to climb poles and work at heights up to and exceeding 30 feet
  • Able to complete the necessary training for working at heights and confined space, pass the corresponding examinations and receive a client authorization number
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work independently or in a team
