The Sepsis Specialist is a Trust wide role, providing clinical leadership, education and training to improve the outcomes for patients with sepsis. The role will include raising awareness of sepsis, ensuring early recognition, assessment and interventions through clinical education and direct clinical support.
The post holder will be instrumental in the delivery of trust wide multi-disciplinary teaching.
Main duties of the job
The role will also include supporting the corporate delivery of the Sepsis key performance indicators. They will be a driver of qualitative, innovative, productive, safe evidence based nursing care which promotes best practice and best outcomes for patients and will act as a clinical expert and resource for members of the multi-disciplinary team.
To be the specialist resource in relation to the management of sepsis, providing ward staff with the appropriate knowledge and information to support their patients.
Participate actively in the development and improvement of Sepsis care in order to maximise quality of patient care in collaboration with all health care professionals and external agencies
Assist in developing Trust policy to ensure practice meets internal and external healthcare standards as required.
Support the clinical areas to further identify local sepsis champions to improve the education and compliance with utilising the sepsis tools across the Trust.
Work collaboratively with Oncology specialist nurses to support improvements in management of neutropenic sepsis
Work collaboratively with Critical Care from a clinical and education perspective as part of the whole deteriorating patient agenda
To maintain a high and visible profile in the clinical environment and act as a role model demonstrating high standards of care.
