About the role

The job nature of the Service Assistant is of a semi-skilled capacity, carrying out vehicle servicing and general duties in accordance with Central Engineering Standard Operating Procedures. 

Main areas of responsibility are to carry out routine vehicle servicing, support the vehicle examiners, skilled staff and semi-skilled staff in carrying out vehicle repairs. In this role you will also carry out general duties which may include vehicle changeovers, vehicle cleaning, attending to vehicles on chassis wash program, van driving etc. It is also important that the service assistant maintains and develop technical skills as required for their role; we will assist in this area.

About you

  • Minimum level 1 or level 2 NVQ in a mechanical field is essential. 
  • Do you have working experience in a car mechanics, van, bus, coach, HGV or PSV capacity? ( essential )
  • Do you hold a valid UK drivers licence? ( essential )
  • To have some proven work experience of safe operations of workshop equipment such as hydraulic vehicle lifts, pressurised oil and waste systems, battery chargers and starters, trolley jacks, scaffolding, pressure wash and automatic washing equipment, headlamp alignment tester, hydraulic jacks and testing equipment, drilling machine, torque wrenches, pedestal grinders and general portable equipment (i.e. air guns, drills, electric and pneumatic hand tools etc).
  • Must be in the possession of, or capable of obtaining a full PCV licence and forklift truck licence if required.

    • Hourly pay: £13.62

    Working hours: 38.5 per week

  • Monday to Friday, 06:00 - 14:00

    • Location: Sheffield - Olive Grove depot.
