The role

Fugro is currently seeking a dedicated Goods-In Assistant to join the Wallingford Geotechnics warehouse team in Wallingford. Reporting directly to the Goods-In Team Leader, this role is pivotal in managing the receipt, storage, and dispatch of soil and rock samples from projects around the globe. As a Goods-In Assistant, you will be responsible for booking in samples upon their arrival, assisting with the preparation of samples for testing by laboratory technicians and engineers, and ensuring the timely retrieval and delivery of samples as required. Additionally, you will handle correspondence from various departments and maintain up-to-date project sheets to ensure the traceability of samples.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys the responsibility of accurately recording goods upon receipt and tracking samples throughout the laboratory. You will thrive on meeting project deadlines and find satisfaction in contributing to the timely completion of projects. Working within established operating procedures and processes, you will ensure that stakeholders are kept informed at all times. This role offers the challenge of working to project deadlines and the satisfaction of helping to complete projects on time, making it perfect for someone who values precision and enjoys a structured work environment.

Who we’re looking for:

Essential

  • Good standard of general education, with a minimum of 5 GCSEs (including English, Maths and Science) or equivalent qualifications;
  • Previous experience in a warehouse environment;
  • Excellent numeracy and literacy;
  • Excellent IT skills, particularly in updating Excel spreadsheets;
  • Competent use of email;
  • Highly accurate with an eye for detail;
  • Health & Safety conscious;
  • Pro-active.
  • Desirable

  • “Reach” forklift truck licence.
