Menzies Distribution are looking for an experienced HGV/LGV Class 1 Shunter to join our team, providing a first class service in Blunham.

What You Want To Know:

  • Shift Pattern: 4 On/4 Off Days
  • Hours: 42 Hours Per Week
  • Salary: £38,610.51 / £17.67 Per Hour
  • Holiday Allowance: 20 Days

  • Shunter Duties:

  • To carry out vehicle and trailer safety checks prior to commencement of shift complying with appropriate documentation and procedures.
  • Ensure vehicle load is safe, secure and correctly positioned.
  • Correctly check and accept load documentation and delivery paperwork.
  • Correctly check in any returned goods and ensure paperwork is accurate.
  • Maintain communication at all times with the Traffic Office.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness, using all equipment safely as specified in operating procedures.
  • Operate vehicle safely, ensuring driver actions do not endanger self or other road users.
  • Comply with safe working practices at all times.
  • Undertake any other reasonable job instruction to support the supply of a quality service to the customer.
  • Rachet, strap and corner management. 
  • HGV Driver/Shunter Requirements:

  • A full UK C+E licence
  • 12 months previous class 1 driving experience
  • Previous shunting experience (desirable)
  • No more than 6 points on your licence
  • No previous disqualifications
  • Good knowledge of drivers hours and WTD regulations
  • This can be reasonably physical so we ask for this to be considered when applying.
