Sonic Healthcare UK encompasses the two main entities in the UK, The Doctors Laboratory (TDL) and Health Services Laboratories (HSL ). HSL is a partnership between The Doctors Laboratory (TDL), Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust and University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH). HSL was formed to provide pathology services to the NHS Trusts and has expanded further to provide services to other NHS Trusts. About the role:
 
A new opportunity has arisen for a Group Logistics Manager. This is a new role within the organisation which reflects the growth we have been going through. With four direct reports and a team of 170 couriers, our fleet comprises of motorcycles (66% of our couriers) and vans (33% of our couriers). We are looking for a high quality, proactive and professional management capability for the Group and specifically for the department. Sonic Healthcare UK has already transitioned the fleet of vans to be electric vehicles and as part of our “green” credentials we are trialling Electronic Motorcycles. Additionally, reflecting our role as a leading “Responsible Employer”, we transitioned our former self employed drivers to full employees of the Sonic Healthcare Group, giving them full benefits, enjoyed by other permanent employees.
 
If you are the successful applicant, your duties will include providing high quality, proactive and professional management of the London Courier Department. You will need a “roll up your shirtsleeves” approach to coordinate the processes, ensuring great customer satisfaction. You will need to have an awareness of and strategic response to external influences such as legislation, costs, and environmental pressures. You will be helping with further transformation of our operation and to lead an efficient, dynamic and Lean Logistics department. You will be responsible for the support and structure for the day to day management of courier activity within Sonic Healthcare family, the annual reviews of staff and of course ensuring company Health & Safety, Fire Regulations and HR procedures are adhered to.
